The Contractor Guide
Contract pharmacy workers are an essential component of the healthcare workforce in the United States, providing essential services in many different settings across the country. Pursuing a career as a contract pharmacy professional is becoming more and more appealing.
But what exactly does it mean to be a temporary contract professional? In this guide, we address frequently asked questions, including the responsibilities of the role, the advantages of choosing contract work, and the process of becoming a contract pharmacy professional.
What is a Contract Pharmacy Professional?
Contract workers are generally hired for specific projects or services on a shorter-term basis. Instead of being tied to a permanent, salaried position, contract pharmacy workers work on contracts to fulfil specific needs within pharmacy organizations. Typically, you will work for 3 – 6 month contracts. Contract positions can be converted into Direct Hires if the company wants to take you on permanently (Temp to Hire)
Just like their permanent counterparts, contract pharmacy professionals are required to hold all the necessary qualifications, and maintain state licenses.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I no longer want to be a contactor?
Not a problem at all. This happens!
All you need to do is communicate this with us. Ideally, we ask for you to give the contracting employer seven days notice but this isn’t essential. You could leave immediately with no separation notice.
How quickly can I start working?
This all depends on you.
Our clients are very quick to hire you as a contractor, often resulting in your start date being within seven days of first communicating with your Quad consultant.
If there's any delay in completing your background checks with PGC, your start date will be impacted.
How will I get paid?
You'll be paid bi-weekly by PGC.
It's as easy as that!
Your consultant will be able to let you know how much you'll be paid per hour - which is always agreed prior to your assignment start date.
How many hours a week will I work as a contractor?
This can depend on the assignment and how many hours the end client wants you to work. Typically you will be working a 40-hour week.
This will be discussed with you prior to starting the contract.
What happens when my contract comes to an end?
Once you have finished the assignment, there are three things that can happen:
- Your contract gets extended
- You get taken on as a direct hire
- You finish the contract and find work elsewhere
